Gretna Hall Blacksmiths Venue: One of the most romantic settings in Gretna, established 1710, Gretna Hall Blacksmiths shop is best known as a traditional venue.  Many places around the village of Gretna Green can may claim to being marriage venues, but Gretna Hall Blacksmiths was the official stop in Scotland for stagecoaches travelling to and from England. This made it the perfect choice for a “Blacksmith’s Wedding”, a legally performed ceremony according to the Laws of Scotland Today there are three marriage rooms contained within the traditional blacksmiths courtyard;

The gardens at Gretna Hall are purpose built and are ideal for wedding photography, features include a purpose built pond, Gazebo, kissing gate, arched courtyard, spiral staircase, and 'Gretna Green' sign alongside the many historical features.

Blacksmiths Workshop:

The Blacksmiths Workshop is the largest of Gretna Halls  marriage rooms and is ideally suited for larger wedding parties.  The Workshop is steeped in the history and traditions of Gretna Green and hosts Gretna Halls marriage records dating back to the 1700's.  The workshop has capacity for up to 60 guests standing, although seating could be made available. 

 

Blacksmiths Cottage:

The Blacksmiths Cottage is a more intimate setting preferred for wedding parties of up to 15 persons standing. The cottage has its own private entrance and exits into the cobbled courtyard and kissing gate.

 

The Linton Suite:

Gretna Halls famous Wedding Blacksmith of the 1800’s, “John Linton” had this room named in his honour. The room contains several items from his dedicated marriage room in Gretna Hall Hotel, notably; his signing table which now contains his original register. Upon signing your legal documents at his table you become part of 200 years of history, tradition and romance.  The room can accommodate up to 20 people seated.

The Old Blacksmiths Shop: A unique and historic venue, the Old Blacksmiths Shop plays a founding part in the history of Gretna Green and opened to the public as a visitor attraction around1887. Built in 1712, two years after The Gretna Hall Coaching Inn and Blacksmiths. This historic location was originally the workshop of a local blacksmith who would marry eloping couples who'd cross over the border after the introduction of England's marriage act in 1748. 

Although marriages took place in many alternative locations, popular folklore has always held the Blacksmith at the heart of Gretna Green weddings.  Inside and outside there are many photographic opportunities including a kissing gate and Gretna Green sign. Capacity: 2-60 

The Mill forge: is a self contained venue ideal for parties of up to 60 people, it includes accommodation, function suites and the Mill forge Marriage Venue. Situated around 2 miles from the heart of Gretna Green. This is a truly picturesque location. 

Marriages take place is a purpose build small chapel style building and all ceremonies are candlelit. The original barn has undergone extensive renovations to become a fully licensed barn restaurant.                         The Mill is a self contained wedding venue and offers Bridal Suite and guest accommodation in a chalet style arrangement along with shared function rooms to hold your reception/evening meal. Capacity 40 seated plus 20 standing.

The Anvil Hall Venue: A unique and beautiful building, Anvil Hall is an increasingly popular marriage venue.  Once the catholic church in Gretna, the building is now used only for marriages.  Low lighting and candles make for a romantic atmosphere. You truly get to walk down the aisle at this venue. The interior of the hall is unique it has an upper balcony allowing overhead photography. Anvil Hall provides many great photographic opportunities inside the hall out side has a Kissing Gate and Gretna Green sign. The Anvil Hall has capacity for up to 90 guests seated and an additional 60 standing.
